AFOLs and TFOLs in and around Bavaria in Germany. 150 members in April 2022. Yearly exhibitions since 2004.
To understand what Bricking Bavaria is, we have to go way back in time. “Bricking Bavaria 2004” was the name of the very first Bavarian LEGO exhibition, which was organized by adult LEGO enthusiast from Bavaria. It took place in “Kirchheim”, a small idyllic town near Munich, where 17 AFOLs exhibited a broad repertoire of self-built LEGO models. A few years later this lose group decided to found a registered organization. On the 13th of November 2010 “Bricking Bavaria e.V.” was founded. The number of members has grown to more than 130 since then and so did the number of MOCs. The planning and realization of exhibitions is the main purpose of our RLUG. 2021 Bricking Bavaria (short: BB) organized one of the biggest LEGO-Hobby-Exhibitions in Germany with more than 250 participants and tens of thousands of visitors. But we did not limit ourselves to one big exhibition per year. All the personal effort of our members allows us to mount a variety of fondly created city festival- and shopping center exhibitions. The ever growing LUG is also active outside of Bavaria. In 2016, the Comic Con Germany was taking place in Stuttgart for the first time and Bricking Bavaria was the organizer of the LEGO model exhibition there. AFOLs from all over Germany have been participating in this event. Additionally, we repeatedly receive requests to create unique models or activities for charitable purposes, e.g. for a children’s hospice in Munich. The play afternoons for children in “Neumarkt” are very popular too.
Thematically we cover the entire range of LEGO model building. This variety is one of our strengths. We especially like to work on group builds. Therefore, we still have a classic Moonbase in addition to a cityscape and a big Friends diorama. But we also have “specialists” for building mosaics, true to original fire trucks, castles, Star Wars MOCs etc.
Our passion for collecting, sorting, trading and building unites us and we love to share our excitement. Even the Canadian television reported about us.
And as it is a tradition in Bavaria, we meet monthly at a regular’s tables. Sometimes with brezels and beer, but always with LEGO bricks and many AFOLs.
